WALKING FOR LINDSEY
On Sunday, January 11, 2009, I am walking 13.1 miles in 3.5 hours in Walt Disney World for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training - for all persons battling blood cancer, but specifically for my Honored Hero - Lindsey Kimball.
Lindsey is truly a brave young woman, battling half her life with leukemia. At fourteen years old she has dealt with more sickness and pain than the majority of people. She is three years post bone marrow transplant and is doing very well. You would never know the extent of her battle by speaking with her. She is full of life, love and is a true inspiration...especially to me! Lindsey has one more battle ahead of her, and that is a scheduled open heart surgery in February at Children's Hospital in Boston. This young woman needs our support!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $600 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.
I am walking with a very special person, Dawn Heinle-Kimball, who is Lindsey's mom. Dawn & I are determined to bring awareness to the blood cancers of leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma, while raising money for further research and patient services.
This has been a very rewarding and inspiring venture, I must say, and I have learned much about blood diseases and its affect on many people and their families.
I need your support to reach my personal fundraising goal. If you are able to give a monetary donation it is greatly appreciated and very easy to do on-line.
Thank you for supporting my cause!
