RUNNING OVER CANCER!
(My first race in seven years in the purple TNT colors: the Big Lake Half Marathon in Alton, NH. 1:46:16 was good for 177th place, and projects to about a 3:46 marathon!)
Last Week:
Miles run: 31+
Longest run: 13.18 miles (May 8)
New fundraising total (including funds not yet added here): $3,408
Way back in 2003, I did a few pretty momentous things: I ran my first marathon (in Portland, ME), and I met my wife Kristen. And I did it all as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. Now that we're starting to settle down back home in New Hampshire, I've decided to take the plunge and train for another marathon!
So, to make a long story short, I've decided to train for and run the Rock 'n' Roll Seattle Marathon on June 26. In addition, I'm raising as much money as I can to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. We can all draw inspiration from their fight, and I figure if they can beat cancer, I can certainly run through the beautiful Pacific Northwest for a few hours! These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I know times are tough, but any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated, and three-quarters of all the money raised goes directly toward funding research, patient aid, and the other valuable programs supported by the Society.
Check back often for updates on my training and fundraising--I'm in this for the long haul, and I appreciate your support!
