My Fundraising Page

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

As you you may know, my marathon was this past Sunday in San Diego. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I will not forget. With an official time of 4:22:01, I was able to meet my personal goals of 1) actually finishing the marathon; and 2) completing the course in less than 4:30. I experienced some knee injury, but was able to push through.

I wanted to thank you all again for your thoughtfulness and generosity towards my fundraising efforts. With your help and support, I will have raised over $6000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society- 30% more than my initial goal!!

Each dollar raised is hopefully a step closer towards the ultimate mission of finding a cure!

Sincerely,

Anne Boulter

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training page.

Many of you know of my personal and professional experience with cancer. While I am fortunate enough to be a 12-year survivor of cancer and have been blessed with the miracle of Audrey, there are too many other children and adults who are not. As a pediatric oncology social worker, I worked with hundreds of families who are still fighting their battles==or even worse==have lost their struggle.

I have worked with many of the physicians who are working towards developing new treatments, and will hopefully one day find a cause and a cure for cancer. Unfortunately, we are not there yet. There are too many people who still suffer, too many people who still die.

I have helped families to access the many informational, emotional, and financial support services that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society provides to families. I know personally the difference that this type of help makes for families facing the hundreds of changes that cancer brings to a family.

And so I have decided to work with Team in Training to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It has always been a goal of mine to run a marathon. I know that I need the support and training that Team in Training can provide. Even more importantly, I know that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society needs the funds that I can hopefully raise to continue towards their mission. I will be running the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego, California on May 31, 2009. My fundraising goal is $6,000. Seventy five percent of this fundraising goes directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for research and patient services.

I know that this is a difficult time financially. It is another reason why the financial services of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are even more important to families. In California, most of the families that I worked with traveled at least two hours to the hospital to receive treatments==if they were lucky enough to be able to live at home. Many had to stay locally at the hospital because of treatment regimens. Most families had to have at least one or both parents take an unpaid leave of absence from work. We often think of the emotional burden that a cancer diagnosis brings to a family==the fear, the sadness, the anger. All of these emotions are extremely difficult to deal with. Imagine the financial strains on top of those.

This letter is a request for help, not just for me, but also for thousands of others. Any amount that you would be able to give would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot afford a donation now, perhaps you could pass this letter or my website on to your friends, family members, coworkers, faith communities or anyone who may be able to help.

I run in memory of the large number of patients I have been lucky enough to know who have died from their disease. I run in honor of those who are survivors and who are living their dream==including myself!

Thank you so much for your support!

Sincerely,

Anne Boulter

If you or a family member work for a company who matches charitable donations, your donation can count double in helping me to meet my goal!
