Racing to Save Lives

Welcome

to my Team In Training home page.

Guess what?!! I'm doing a triathlon! I figure after a bunch of century rides, a few half marathons and a full marathon, it's time to finish the triple crown!

This will most likely be my last Team in Training fund raising event. Am I leaving TNT? No! I'll continue as a mentor, coach and volunteer as needed. So donate big!!

This time I'll be competing in the Nations Triathlon on September 13, 2009 in Washington D.C.

I'm doing this event is in honor of everyone fighting cancer, everyone who knows and loves someone fighting cancer, and in memory of all who have lost the fight with cancer.

As most of you know, my hero has been and will always be Lindsey Kimball. Lindsey is now a teenager and has fought leukemia for half of her life. This past year, she underwent open heart surgery to repair some cardiac damage. That damage was caused by her chemotherapy porta-cath. I'm very happy to report that she is doing well! And before you know it, she'll be driving!! ... :o)

Also as most of you know, in the past, 75% of every dollar donated through Team in Training has gone to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fund patient services, family services and education for blood cancer patients and their families. I say "In the past..." because this time I will be covering the expenses of training and travel personally. This means that 100% of your donation will go directly to the cause. Every dollar you donate will go directly toward the mission of curing blood cancers and caring for patients and their families. This represents a personal commitment of $850.00- So I'm putting my money where my mouth is!

Come on- Donate! I swim like a manatee and the Potomac is polluted- That's gotta be worth something!
