Some people may think that they have the best friends & family ever, but I really do. In exactly one month's time, you helped me to raise $2000! That's incredible! A huge thank you to all of my donors, and a shout out to Kat for the donation that got me to $2k!

This past weekend, Team in Training had their kickoff event. I got to meet some of my teammates, coaches and mentors, along with people doing some of the other events. I won a hat for my fundraising efforts (thanks to you guys!). They had two cancer survivors share their stories, and of course I teared up a bit.

Overall, I'm really excited about doing this event. I have less than $1000 to go before I hit the fundraising minimum, which is fantastic. My next goal is to find a place to go swimming. Any suggestions?

Well, I gave out a challenge & boy did you guys meet it! First I asked for help getting to 20% of my goal, but then I up'ed the ante by saying that I would match all donations that I got yesterday.

What amazing friends I have that I was able to get $300 in ONE day!! And I'm so psyched to have such a huge matching gift to make. Thank you to all of my supporters!!

I shouldn't even really say week, because it's only been 5 days. Since sending an email to all my friends & family, along with posting on Twitter and asking a few famous people for RT's...I've raised $655 in just a few days! That's incredible! With the first Team In Training meeting on Wednesday, I'm psyched to have such a jump start to my fundraising.

On top of that, I have some (hopefully) great fundraising plans in the works, and some cool thank you ideas too. Stay tuned!!

First lesson learned - triple proof your email before hitting send!

Two grammar errors in the first 2 sentences. I'm so embarrassed! What it should have read was:

I'll start by apologizing to those of you have have already donated, or saw this on Facebook & already have plans to donate. It's very likely that over the next 155 days, you will hear about my journey via the various social media platforms.

This was after finishing my sprint tri back in September of 2009.

I've done a triathlon before. I've done athletic fundraising events before. But never have I tried to combine the two. And the one tri that I did do was only a sprint distance. This is more than double that.

I'm excited, I'm nervous, but most of all I'm hopeful.
