My Fundraising Page

Hello Friend,

So for those of you that have met me, you have probably been exposed to the random spontaneity in which I live my life. And for this, I do sincerely apologize. My ability to crawl out of bed and just decide to do something that only those of us tittering on the line between totally sane and completely crazy would do baffles most people (and sometime even myself). Which brings me to why you are here reading this website.

In early January of 2009, I was standing in an unusually long line at an ATM and while trying my best to wait patiently (not exactly a skill of mine) I decided make the time go by quicker by nonchalantly reading a brochure that had been discarded by someone and was now staring up at me from the ground. Being that I am a proponent of recycling, and more importantly cleaning up after oneself, I picked up the brochure, hoping that no one else in this line was now judging me for touching trash, and gave it a quick look over until an ATM opened up.

At the time, I had no idea what "Team in Training" was and didn't give it much thought. I just put the brochure in my pocket to put it in the recycle bin when I got home, then went on with my day. A few days later while doing laundry, don't I find this brochure still in my pocket. The first thing that I noticed when reading it this time was that the next day there would be an info meeting ri ght up the street, and it just happened to be on a night that I was not working. It was fate, I think. Not really knowing why, I went to the meeting not expecting too much and certainly not expecting to jump on in there with both feet. But then again, knowing me and my reactions, I really should have seen this coming.

I hadn't been in the room 10 minutes before I was signing up to run a triathlon as a means of raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And not just your easy walk in the park on a Saturday afternoon triathlon, I was signing up for the Mooseman Triathlon to take place in June in Newfound Lake, New Hampshire. This triathlon is a full-on Olympic distance triathlon. A .93 mile swim, followed by a 27.25 mile bike ride, and capped off with a 6.2 mile run. Why, you may ask? The answer to this is unknown to me, but it seemed like destiny...it seemed like perfect timing and if I'm going to do anything I'm going to "Go Big."

My only hope for this excursion into the world of endurance athletics is that I can inspire. Inspire you - someone who has read through my meandering story to prompt you to donate to my cause, help me find others who might be willing to donate to my cause, find a cause of your own, or simply inspire you to add a little physical fitness into your own life.

A big thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and your willingness to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Let's all join together to make this a really big win for everyone!

Thank you,

Courtney
