Just 24 hours to go, and our TEAM has raised nearly $950,000!!! Tomorrow may be a touch on the warm side (the BAA's latest email encouraged us to "wear as few clothes as you decently can"), but even if the weather isn't ideal I think we all feel lucky to be a part of THIS team, THIS year.

Assuming I don't overheat and strip naked sometime in the first 3 miles, I'll be wearing some varietal of shorts, a white visor, and this:

Oh hello! I didn't see you there. You caught me just as I was on my way out to run the Boston Marathon with Team in Training! Won't you stay a while?

I'm training for my 7th Boston Marathon with Team in Training not because I love the Wellesley Community Center's mauve carpeting (although I do), and not because I need an excuse to eat more pancakes (I don't). I'm running with Team in Training because the money we raise makes a tangible difference in the lives of people I love.

How much of a difference is astonishing, really. In the course of a few decades, certain types of blood cancer have gone from a death sentence to a 95% survival rate. Last year the Boston Marathon team alone raised nearly $1M for research and support for patients and their families.

I'm proud to be a part of Team in Training, and to have the privilege of asking for your donation. The money you give goes directly to fund information and support for those with blood cancers and their families. It also funds the research that will, eventually, produce a cure.
