Why Team In Training...

One of many causes to run for in the Boston Marathon is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The number one reason to run, for me, is my dad, Peter Dimatteo. He has been a true inspiration in his past marathons all of which he ran for Team In Training. Six consecutive years he ran the Boston, all accumulating to over $36,000 in fundraising towards the charity. As an ER Doc, single dad, and masterful chef in the kitchen for my brother and me, not sure how he managed the training and the fundraising to the extent he took them both... but he did it! He is amazing and I know my grandmother, one of two family members he ran in honor of, is over the moon proud of him. My God father Uncle jack, our other family member my dad ran in honor of, is a survivor of lymphoma. He is also one of the most amazing men I know.
Running this marathon for Team In Training has given such purpose to those who wish to do SOMETHING for their loved ones who were affected by leukemia or lymphoma. Seeing my Uncle Jack survive treatment, all while watching my dad work and train.. work and train... work and train for years, imprinted on me how motivated my family members are to not let the devastating effects of cancer destroy them.
Team In Training has helped us honor our loved ones and put effort towards fundraising for beneficial research to find a cure. My dad will not be running the marathon distance anymore. I am finally in a place where I can commit to the fundraising and the running for Team In Training and that is exactly what I am going to do!!!

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
