First off I'd We want to send a big THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to our team and participated in our fundraising events so far! Both the pub crawl and March Madness 50/50 were a success. With your help we are very close to reaching our goal of $3,750 as a team.
The March Madness 50/50 totaled $650 with $325 being raised for LLS. Congrats to Matt Hayes who came out on top and won the 50/50!!
We continue to train hard for the race, running hills, sprints and Saturday morning long runs making sure we are ready for the big day. We have our longest training run this weekend then we are tapering off until the race. We hope some of you are able to come and cheer us on May 6th!
We still need your help in our final push towards reaching our fundraising goal!
We are very close so please consider making a donation to support our mission to help find cures for Leukemia and Lymphoma! Every dollar makes a big difference in many people's lives, both those battling the disease and their families.
Thanks again to our friends and family for the support you have shown us along the way! We couldn't have done it without you!
Hope to see you out there in May!
It's madness in March - both on the ASSphalt and off!
We are less than 2 months away from our big race day! Our weekly runs are getting longer and race day is getting closer. Your continued support is a huge motivator for each of us!
Today also marks the first day of the NCAA Championships. This is a big deal for the Sole Heroes because it also begins our 2nd official fundraiser - March Madness! We have 26 people in our bracket!
A big thank you to our crawlers!
We want to thank everyone who came out to our Pub Crawl in Harvard Square. It was a lot of fun and some of us even made it to all 5 bars. It was a great way to raise awareness to other people in the city on why we are running for LSS.
Special thanks to John Harvards & Tommy Doyles for serving some delicious snacks!
The picture below shows some of the last crawlers standing!
Let's take our next competition to the alley!
Anyone up for some Bowling? We think one more fundraiser will bring us so close to our goal! We are thinking of some bowling at King's in April. Stay tuned for details.
Each season of Team in Training, the team trains in honor of an Honored Hero. This season, the Boston Run team has asked Justin, who is currently a patient at Children's Hospital batting acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), if we can run in his honor. Our Boston Run teammate Lina has been in touch with Justin and has shared his story with the team:
"Justin was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at age 11 and needed three years of challenging treatment. Justin is now 16 years old, and completed treatment one year ago. During this last year, his adoptive father died and Justin was taken away from his adoptive mother due to subsequent substance abuse secondary to her grief. Recently Justin was transplanted from his home in California to Boston, where he was adopted by his brother. However, in January Justin found out that his leukemia had relapsed. He has been at the Children's Hospital for almost 2 months undergoing chemotherapy. His closest family lives over an hour away and they have only visited him a couple times during this period. Justin's friends are all across the country. Justin is spending a lot of time alone without visitors. He is truly one of the sweetest and shyest yet bravest kids I've met" - Lina
We have not had a chance yet to meet Justin, but we are currently planning some visits in the next few weekends and hopefully we can share more information on how Justin is doing soon! I know reading his story has been an inspiration to our whole team and has motivated us to train as hard as we can.
What is the best way you can help out Justin and anyone else currently diagnosed with blood cancers? Donations!
We have been working hard to plan some events in the coming weeks and hope you can all join us.
First up:
Sunday March 11th! - Harvard Square Pub Crawl
We will be meeting at 1:00 at Grendal’s Den and moving on from there. There will be food along the way as well as a contest or two with prizes.
Cost is $25 with T-shirts to the first 40 people.
March Madness 50/50
We have set up a March Madness bracket through Yahoo sports. It is 25 dollars to join and 50% the money we collect will go to our team fundraising efforts with the remaining 50% will go to the winners.
More details about how to sign up will be added to the webpage in the next few days. Final winners amounts will be posted after the first round of games (once we know how many players we have)
If you don’t think you can participate in our events, we would still greatly appreciate any donations you can make towards our campaign!
Together, there’s no telling what we can do.
As a Team, we can combine efforts to save lives.

Hi Family & Friends... Welcome to our Team Page!
The three of us are joining together with Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We all have a growing love for running and have decided to make it a team effort, both on the road and off! Together, we have already started training for the Cox Providence Rhode Race Half Marathon for May 6th - we are ready to kick some serious ASSphalt!
Everytime we run, we run with a goal - and as a team we are taking that one step further - to help save lives. If we promise to make this fun, will you help us? Not only will your support help the cause, it will build the foundation of our team. In turn, we will keep you posted on our ASSphalt kicking every step of the way.
Stay tuned for details on TEAM activities that we want YOU to be a part of. Some Bowling, some drinking & lots of friendly competition is headed your way!
