I'm training to participate in the Hyannis Sprint Triathlon as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am completing this event in honor of Elena Parsekian, the daughter of close high school friends who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

2/11/09 - My training has had a temporary set back due to a sinus infection. However, I'm up and running again and feeling good. I will be able to get in some biking and swimming during vacation next week - yeah! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far!

3/2/09 - I'm healthy again and training is going well! I have been averaging 15-20 miles a week running and was able to do some swimming in Florida over vacation. The snow is holding up the biking, but there's time for that. Thanks again to all who are supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's research!

3/22/09 - Training has hit a set back - A dog decided I was in his way while running last Sunday and one minute I was up, the next down. Result - 5 staples in my head and many bruises. Training was out for the week. With the staple now gone and bruises healing, I am hoping to start back slowly this week. Thanks for your support!

3/29/09 - Hurray! The solution for now is a temporary membership at the YMCA. I have found that swimming works and is helping my shoulder and sacrum to heal faster. Although all the donations haven't been registered yet, I am now at $550.00! Thank you to everyone!

4/21/09 - Yeah - school vacation! This week I hope to step up my training. I am back running and swimming as well. If the weather clears, I'll be on my bike this week too! Elena has finished her chemo and is moving on to radiation. She's doing very well. Thanks to everyone for their support. Keep the donations coming! I'm up to $895.00, but have a long way to go!

5/10/09 - Hurray! As of today, I am halfway there - $1,355! Thank you to all of you who have donated! This weekend I did my first bike, then run trial. My legs were a little wobbly after getting off the bike, but I know from experience, it's a feeling you have to get used to. My long runs are getting longer and I'm feeling stronger all the time. It's a long road, but so is Elena's! Thanks again for your support!

5/17/09 - I'm really picking up speed - both in fund raising and in training! I am only $1,000 away from my goal and this weekend did another bike/run combo. and extended my long run. All forms of support are truly appreciated!!!

6/6/09 - Hurray! I am over my goal!! $3,115 and still a week to go! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone who has been so generous! I did a long bike today and will do a long run tomorrow. After a swim on Monday and speed work on Tuesday, I'll start to taper a bit to save energy for the big day Saturday! Can't wait to fill you in on the final results! Go team!

6/14/09 - Well, the big day is over! It was terrific! We had the only sunny, warm day of the entire week! I will be communicating with all of you in greater length and greater detail, but suffice it to say it was a memorable experience! The water was relatively calm, the temperature perfect and the crowds and support awesome. The bike and run courses were beautiful and I felt really great throughout the race. Thanks so much to everyone who supported me and the team! As a group, we raised over $120,000 to help fight blood cancers - the most important part of this jouney. Thanks again! Sue
