Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Treasure Island Triathlon 2008 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. This is my second event for the Team. Though racing and raising money for all blood cancer patients, I began this journey in honor of a dear friend, Trish, who is a lymphoma survivor. I am happy to report that she is celebrating her 10th year of being cancer free! Trish walked, and was sometimes carried, through a long battle, enduring several rounds of chemotherapy and multiple cancer recurrences, resulting in receiving an autologous stem cell transplant. Having stood at death's door on too many occasions to mention, she succeeded in her battle and came out of the transplant with a new and healthy immune system.
By the time I began my first triathlon, I raced with the names of four different cancer patients "tatooed" on my arms and legs, patients whose families I had come to know through spreading the word of LLS's work.
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
