No more Fridays at Norris! CHEMO IS DONE!
Buffalo is going to have a lot of time on his hands. If anyone has any job openings, he will be happy to send his resume.
Sometimes when we get tired or bored or stressed at Norris Cancer Center, we watch the Panda Cam. Ever since Caryn was diagnosed, the panda family at the San Diego Zoo has been one of our essential grounding techniques. We watch Panda Cam during every chemo.
When Caryn had that fever for 5 days, she was super stressed out. So stressed out that even the panda wasn't making her feel better. So our friend Petra helped out, and developed Personal Protective Equipment panda.
This is a photo of us watching Panda Cam on one smartphone and Petra PPE Panda on the other smartphone while we sat in the waiting room for 2 hours. This really brought a smile to Caryn's face, even though it was covered by her mask.
We have been supporting Stand Up to Cancer even before Caryn got stupid cancer because the Dodgers support this charity and of course we do whatever the Dodgers tell us. This is why we keep going to hundreds of Dodger games and buying Dodger gear even though they haven't won a world series since 1988. So last week Stand Up to Cancer had National Cancer Day and asked people "Who are you standing up for?" as a social media campaign.
Caryn even donned her shiny head for the campaign. That's how much she's standing up! We can't wait until we can use shoe polish on that thing, she will glisten like the diamond we know she is.
When I took a moment to think about who we were standing up for, it hit us how many people in our family have battled cancer. Stupid cancer has really made its rounds, young and old. Some have won the fight and others battled to the end. Surgeries and chemotherapy and drugs and all; we have struggled through the good and the bad and done our best to keep our sense of humor throughout.
I have come to the realization that on any given day, I could find out it is me battling cancer and I need to be ready for it. Doesn't matter how cute or funny you are, Caryn has definitely made us realize that. So take a second and think about who you stand up for, and take another second to be proud that you have taken a part in the fight.
Having the flu while you have cancer!
Fortunately, Caryn's few remaining white blood cells have superpowers and they are helping her battle that HwhateverNdoesn'thaveachance virus off like nobody's business. But let's just say having a fever for 4 days when you don't have an immune system is pretty frightening. So we brought in reinforcements, like a miracle performing chihuahua!
If you look over Caryn's shoulder you can see the photo of her USC class donning their scarves. They are smiling at her in her living room, giving her even more strength (on top of the dog on her head and the dog at her feet). The virus should be on its way out and we are hoping the rest of this is smooth sailing. Chemo number 10 of 12 is on Friday and we want Caryn to be in good shape so we can knock the last 3 out of the ballpark.
Today is National Cancer Day, so take a second to do something to recognize today in whatever way you find meaningful. Hug your favorite cancer survivor, put on your Team in Training shirt, donate another $5 to your charity of choice, post some cancer awareness facts on your Facebook, eat some delicious cancer fighting foods, or just put a chihuahua on your head and say SCREW YOU, CANCER. Take a second to remember that cancer affects every single one of us, and we are so lucky for the moments we share together.
Now get your flu shots, use your hand sanitizer, and have a good day! Woof!
So, we got an email about the official race photos and they want to charge us $179.90 for these photos! That is a lot of dollars that could go to LLS. So we will just show you the proofs, a few photos that were taken along the course. Fortunately we have our own fans to take pictures of us to prove we did the race.
These were taken at Disneyland and Downtown Disney, and it is still nighttime. Probably before 5:30am but they lit up the castle and the streets for us! Pretty cool, right? The Tinkerbell and Disneyland runs are pretty awesome. If you are so inclined to run 13.1 or 26.2 miles like my dad and sister, I would recommend RunDisney. There is a lot to look at and a lot of people cheering you on. And this is from someone who is not inclined to run 13.1 miles.
This is Janine a few feet before the finish line. She is literally saying "this is for Caryn this is for Caryn this is for Caryn this is for Caryn this is for Caryn this is for Caryn" and that is why her face looks like that.
The ipod in the right hand has been playing Pat Benetar "Invincible" for the past 12 minutes. She had to take it out of the belt so she could hit the repeat button over and over. Best F*ck Cancer running song ever.
Caryn and Ariana at the finishers queue. Just walked 13.1 miles and Caryn is rockin' that head like nobody's business! Work it sexy lady! She looks cute as ever, unlike her older sister's photo in the finisher's queue which even photoshop couldn't save.
Do us a favor and if MarathonFoto asks why you saw these tell them we were advertising for them. Here, we'll link to their website. BUY STUFF FROM MARATHONFOTO. THEY HAVE GOOD MERCHANDISE. You can buy all of the photos and more for the bargain price starting at $39.95 per photo download! Check it out!!! Yay!!!
