The Journey Begins

You have decided to take a peek at my fundraising page. Thank you!
This is all a little foreign to me; I am not much of a blogger, not much of a fundraiser, and not much of a runner. So, why did I sign up for a marathon and volunteer to raise a few thousand dollars? The answer is not easy or simple, but it’s true.
Coming from a small town I was very much involved in the neighborhood. Once I moved to Southern California it all stopped. It truly feels amazing to help someone and be present in your community. No matter how big or small you are, or how much money or time you can give, it is all worth it.
I knew I wanted to help, but I was not sure who or how. That is where my cousin comes in. She joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team in Training (TNT) a few seasons ago. Cancer has already taken a huge toll on our family, including her mom, and other aunts and uncles. I see all the things my cousin has done for LLS, raising money to find a cure; and I have felt the loss of those fighting the good fight.
Not only am I raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease an myeloma, I am educating myself and others about them. I was surprised at how little I know about these blood related cancers; what are the symptoms, risk factors, treatments, what is leukemia. An important part of raising awareness is becoming educated and spreading the word. During this process I hope to learn more about each of these diseases, as well as sharing what I learn with you.
So while I am raising money for leukemia, and becoming educated about these different blood cancers, I will also be training for a half marathon. Yeah, I mentioned I am not a runner, but there is something about running for a cause that pushed me forward. We had our first group practice this past Saturday… I need work. Luckily, the marathon isn’t until January, so we still have time.
This is going to be an amazing journey and I hope that you will join me in the process. For those that have already donated, THANK YOU! For those who haven’t... please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team in Training and help advance the research for cures.

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
