In Honor of my Friend

Hello Everyone,
It’s finally happened – I’ve gone off the deep end and signed up to walk 13.1 miles. Yep, you read that correctly, I’m walking in a marathon on January 29, 2012!!!
I’m actually doing this for several reasons. My mother, my grandmother and a very close friend have all been affected by Cancer. I’m sure we all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease.
I want to tell you a story about my special friend Cecilia. Cecilia and her husband Chris have been married for 6 years but they have known each other since the 7th grade, and became high school sweethearts. They have a 4 year old little girl, Camille. Chris who is 34 years old has been battling Leukemia for 1 year now. He was thankful that he found a bone marrow match and was able to have a transplant in July but his body rejected the marrow because the cancer was too strong. He is losing his battle with cancer and unfortunately the doctor’s gave him very little chance of survival and now he is living the time he has left at home with his family.
So I am walking with Cecilia to support her in this Marathon. She wanted to do something to raise money for this cause in hopes of raising money maybe one day there will be a cure for this illness and another family will not have to suffer the loss of a loved one.
I have committed to raising a minimum of $2,200 to support their efforts to treat and cure blood cancers and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a 100% tax-deductible donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support!!!
Esther Orona
