Hello Everyone! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page :)

As many of you may remember, I completed The Los Angeles Marathon in March of 2008, and I was able to raise $2,830 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society ($630 over my fundraising minimum). I ran in honor of ten individuals who have been affected by these cancers; crossing the finish line in honor of these people and their families has been my proudest moment in life, and I have all of you to thank for that.

This time around I'm training and fundraising to participate and complete The Super Seal Triathlon in Coronado (San Diego area). That's swimming, biking, and running for a total of 32 miles! Not only do I have more miles to endure, but I also have more money to raise! In order to compete with TNT, I must raise $2,775 for LLS through donations and fundraising. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I will be completing this event in memory of my grandmothers, Jane Duke and Shirley Wood, who I lost from lupus and cancer, as well as my uncle Bruce Duke who has recently passed from a form of pre leukemia. As a team, we are all competing in honor of the individuals who are battling blood cancers. Come race day, I will be wearing the names of my grandmothers, uncle, and honored team mates on my jersey. **10-8-2010: Bake-a-thon part I

A big thank you to everyone who placed orders for the first bake-a-thon. Also a huge thanks to East West Ice Palace for their generosity by allowing me to sell some cupcakes in the snack bar. To date, I have raised $161 through cupcake sales...I only have another $1,838 to go :) Be on the lookout for Halloween sales and specials.

**San Diego Triathlon moved to Coronado 10-10-2010:

San Diego cancelled the San Diego Triathlon becasue they were not able to secure all the proper permits, so now I will be competing in the Super Seal Triathlon in beautiful Coronado on March 27th (pretty nice upgrade if you ask me). This will give me a couple more weeks to train and fundraise :) Becasue of the event change, my fundraising page has a new url (the old link will redirect you to this page) and will temporarily not be displaying past online donations; these donations will appear again in a week or two. Sorry for any confusion!

Tonight's the big fundraising night! I'm hoping for a big turn out and to raise enough to meet my fundraising goal. Thanks to everyone who has donated and/or ordered cupcakes. I never thought I'd reach my goal this quickly. Now that my fundraising is coming to an end, and since I need a bike in order to participate in this thing, I am now accepting donations from friends & family to help me pay for my bike! I will still be accepting cupcake orders to help some teammates who have not met their goals yet and to help me with my bike purchase. Thanks! and here she is..

Happy New Year everyone! Thursday night was a huge success! Thanks to all of you who came out to support us! Together, the three of us raised $1,410 for LLS in 2 hours. I am also happy to announce that I have reached my fundraising goal! I never imagined that I would be able to reach it so quickly, but thanks to everyone's donations and cupcake orders, I was able to finish 3 months early. When I first decided to start accepting cupcake orders as a way to fundraise, my goal was 50 dozens, and even then I had no idea whether I would actually be able to get that many. By selling cupcakes at work, three holiday bake-a-thons, and taking decorative cupcake orders, to date, I have filled 67 cupcake orders with all proceeds being donated to LLS. As I mentioned before, I will continue taking orders and donations as a way to raise funds for my bike and to help out my best friend and teammate who is also raising funds for LLS. Thanks everyone! Now time to focus on some hardcore training :)
