Linda is Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Well, its a new year and I'm up for a new adventure! What can I possibly do that can top last years Majide experience?? Oh I know... race in a triathlon! I will be competing in the San Diego International triathlon on June 27th, where I will be swimming .6 miles, bike riding 18 miles, and running 6.2 miles.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
PLEASE contribute any amount that you can. It's 100% tax deductible! Does your employer MATCH DONATIONS? It's an amazing way to double the contributions!!! Every dollar will make a difference! Your support is infinitely appreciated and I hope to make you proud. I promise to keep you informed along my journey. THANK YOU so much for your support!
.
I hope you will visit my web site often.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!

Week 1
What have I gotten myself into???? This is a lot harder than I thought! Did the first run with the team last Saturday and meeting a lot of really nice people. Last night I had the first swim, I almost drowned. I know how to swim.. I'm just not that good. I guess I'll just have to keep practicing. Tomorrow is my first bike ride- my experience on a bike is spin class, on a stationary bike. How hard can it really be riding a bike? wish me luck :)
Week 2
I meet with my team on Thursdays and Saturdays for swim, run, bike workouts. I had NO IDEA that there is another training schedule that we have to follow on our own. After I picked up my jaw from the floor, I went for a 4 mile run and a 12 mile bike ride.. not on the same day :) Its hard waking up early and working out, but its all for a great cause in the end! Thanks for all the encouragement and support!
Week 3
I LOVE riding my bike! It has been a really hard week, my best friend is moving to Texas and I'm trying to spend as much time with her as I can as well as keeping up my training. Brookie, I will miss you and wish you lots of luck! Swimming tonight.
Week 4
I hope I'm not getting sick. I have been so tired lately! Don't get me wrong... I love all the training I am doing! I think I am having a hard time with balancing my work, social life and the training. I need better time management in my life :) I can tell you that I have definately cut out a lot of my tv time (sorry american idol).
My dad turns 75 years old on Friday and we are having a big family party for him, I am so excited and I hope that I am making him proud by doing this triathlon. Bike ride and yoga tonight!
Week 5
What a great week! I got in all my training while having my family in town from Maryland. I have really dedicated myself to this training and given up booze... ahhhh! not that I am a heavy drinker, but definately a social drinker :)
Week 7
Sorry I didn't update last week, I've been so busy with all my workouts! I struggle with the swimming. I get so frustrated in that dang pool, it seems so simple yet I can't get it right. I still have a couple months till the race, so hopefully I will get better. I ran 4 miles yesterday with my friend Tracy, she totally motivates me to keep going! I am loving the bike and Troy even hooked me up with a mile counter, now I can see how fast and far I ride. This Saturday we bike ride PCH for the first time... I'm really doing this :)
