WELCOME! HI! HELLO!
I am about to embark on a very exciting journey... I'm running a MARATHON. SURPRISE!
I'm involved with: Team In Training (TNT).TNT is a fundraising and marathon-training program that will prepare me for the challenges of running amarathon while fundraising for The Leukemia &Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improving the quality of life of patients and their families.
I've decided to take on this challenge for numerous reasons. I am embarking on a physical challenge of running 26.2 miles and this will be in memory of my father Steven Cortright, my grandmother Sally Sebastian, my inspiration Marcia Tucker, and in honor of my dear friend Cameron Lyon.
If you have a friend or family member you'd like me to run in honor or memory of, please let me know and I will write their name on a white flower that will be pinnned to my race day jersey. It will be a reminder when the pain sets in that I have a purpose and my ability to runshould not be taken for granted.
Please support me as I fundraise for LLS and train for the San Diego Marathon on June 6th. I have made a personal commitment to raise $3000. Your tax-deductible donation to LLS will further thisgreat cause. I am asking for your support in making a difference. The goal of LLS is that at least 75% of all donations go directly to the cause, so I'm asking you to be as generous as possible. LLS prides itself in having an expense ratio of no more than 25%, and was rated as one of the top tencharities for having the highest percentage of funds raised directly benefiting research and patientservices.
My personal fundraising deadline is fast approaching so I ask that you send your contribution by March 11th. I will, of course still accept donations that come in after March 11th.
All donations are 100% tax deductible, and the LLS tax ID is 13-5644916. Feel free to pass this alongto your friends & family. Also check to see if your company has a matching gifts program, it's aneasy way to double your donation!
Thank you so much. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email me:

IN MEMORY OF:
STEVEN CORTRIGHT
My Father died of Melanoma when I was 4 and a half years old. He was a brilliant internationally recognized artist as well as a world-class high hurdler who competed in the USSR-U.S. World Games in 1960. He was a Summa Cum Laude from Stanford as an undergraduate. He declined acceptance at medical school to do an MFA at Stanford as well. He is survived by my Mom, Penny, my brother Seth, and my sister Sydney, and me, Petra. My father didn't die of Leukemia or Lymphoma, but cancer is cancer and I can not imagine running without his name on the back of my jersey.
SALLY SEBASTIAN
My Grandmother's life was stolen from her beforeher time because of Leukemia. Our family had a 6 daywindow from the time of diagnosis until the time she passed - we had no warning at all. Her death was a complete shock and a debilitating loss for everyonewho knew her. She was a monumental influence in my life, she helped to raise my sister and I after my fatherdied and my mother was left with a 4 and a half year old and 1 year old daughter. I considered her a second Mother and a role model - she supported me in the most lovely and gentle of ways. She doted on me - I dare say even spoiled me whenever I was around her. She always had a little treat or present at any given time. She was a selflessand magical person who taught me to notice the beauty in the fine details and I can credit her for developing in me this understanding of certain aesthetics. On her death bed,her last words to me were "You were the greatest joy".But now when I think of her, her own words are the only wayto describe her. My Gram was the greatest joy, and I am still missing her.
MARCIA TUCKER
Marcia was an incredible woman, friend, mentor and idol of mine who died of Lymphoma. She advocated for me to follow my dreams as an artist and gave me courage when others doubted me. Her achievements in life were unheard of. quoting her obitutary from the New York Times "She was a forceful curator who responded to being fired from the Whitney Museum of American Art by founding the New Museum of Contemporary Art". Marcia was a curator, writer, feminist and a true visionary. Her strength and vehemence pushed me forward at a time in my life when I was facing intimidating crossroads. I can only dare to hope that I can become even half of the woman that Marcia was. I worshiped her, and she is dearly missed.
IN HONOR OF:
CAMERON LYON
Cameron is an intelligent, silly, and amazing friend who beat Leukemia back when we were in High School. Thanks to the amazing medical treatment he recieved - he survived. Cameron told me that he is "one of the lucky ones". He is an example of what we need to look forward to in the fields of medical research and hope. With money to fund research lives like Cameron's are saved. And I feel so lucky that he was a "lucky one", he is an incredible person and it is so scary to imagine that I almost lost him, I don't know what I would do without him in my life.
