Scott's Team in Training Page
Friends, family,
As many of you know, this past weekend was the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon. I ran and I lived to tell the tale - 26.2 miles in just under 4 hours and 18 minutes (chip time, which doesn't start until you've crossed the starting line). It went well, and I was happy with the results. Sure, I could have ran (and possibly will run next year) a faster race, and I feel accomplished, but this is not nearly the most impressive result from the weekend.
Participating in Team and Training, and raising money for The Leukemia Lymphoma Society and blood cancer research actually feels like a much greater accomplishment than the run itself. With all of your help, I was able to personally raise $3,567.95. Almost $70 over my top goal, and, $1,067.96 over the goal for TNT Participation. MY REGIONAL TEAM, West LA TNT, was able to raise over $350,000.00 as a collective group.
Pretty incredible, right? Now here's the real kicker: all of Team in Training, which includes everyone from across the US that participated in the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon with TNT, raised a grand total of net 8.2 MILLION DOLLARS for this weekend, and that number is still growing. Mostly from people like you who chipped in with whatever they had to spare for a good cause.
If you donated, I hope you feel as proud as I do to have a part in that $8.2 million, no matter how large or small. If you weren't able to donate, you actually still can. Just click on Donate Now on the right hand side of this page. Donation or no, thank you all for the great amount of support over the past 3 months.
In regards to the race, Team in Training did a great job preparing us. There were some difficult moments along the way, and I could barely move for the last 2 miles, but I had a strong finish.
You can actually watch me come across the finish line, in all of my immobile splendor, by going to http://elite.competitor.com/webcast/sd/archive.html and typing in my bib number 13425. Yes, the purple shirt represents Team in Training and was not my decision to make.
Running the marathon was the easy part, which was proven by the amount of elderly people, little kids, barefoot runners, and Elvis' that passed me during the race. You all made the real difference. Thank you all one more time.
Much love,
Scott.
