Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training [TNT] home page.

I'm training to participate in a half marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. Everyone on Team In Training is raising funds to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. I am competing in and completing this event in honor of Edith Ermer and Scott Brumer.

Mrs. Ermer, my boyfriend's grandmother, was the epitome of courage and strength. After the diagnosis, regardless of her own pain and discomfort, she was always in good spirits. Through her, I first realized the importance of living a full life and recognizing that the glass is always half-full. My friend's brother, Scott Brumer, is still fighting. Scott has been an inspiration. He perseveres through untold numbers of doctor's visits and chemotherapy treatments. He reminds me of the TNT slogan "If you think running a marathon is tough, try chemotherapy."

I was originally supposed to run this last season, but due to an injury near the end of the season, I was unable to complete my original goal of running the marathon. After taking a few months off to heal, I now feel better than ever. I am excited to continue training and reach my eventual goals- finishing a marathon while staying deeply committed to learning as much as I can about an eventual cure for Leukemia & Lymphoma. Life feels more about giving than receiving. By running, I feel tied to something bigger than myself.
