Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page. My marathon was Sunday, May 31!

I completed the San Diego Marathon as a member of

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. (For those who have been asking, the term "marathon" describes a set distance -26.2 miles.)

I finished in 5.5 hours. The first 14 miles of the marathon were lots of fun -- there were running Elvii, live band and lots of fans. After 14 miles, there were still all those things, but I lost some of my initial pep. (I guess the adrenaline wore off.) By mile 22, my legs flat out refused to run and I had to walk for a few miles. I did manage to run for the last mile though (most of it) including a sprint finish so that I could pretend I'd been running all along.

I am now the proud owner of a tacky marathon finisher medal. If you were holding out on donating because you didn't think I'd do it, I'm happy to show you the medal in all of its glittery glory. (I feel bad for the men who won these things -- not manly at all).

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia,

lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling

blood cancers, including my Aunt Pat. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! During the course of my training, I've learned just how pervasive blood cancer is. At every fundraiser I do, I meet at least one person who has been diagnosed with a blood cancer or knows someone who has.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In

Training and help advance LLS's mission. I am collecting donations through the end of June.

I need your help to get to my fundraising minimum. Right now, I'm about $1400 short of my goal.
