Racing to Save Lives




Welcome to my Team In Training home page.


I'm training to participate in the San Diego Marathon on May 31, 2009 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Training update:

3/21- As of last week, my San Diego Marathon Buddies and I had reached double digits, 10 miles, in our training! I am so proud of everyone on the team. This is an amazing experience, and I look forward to my Sunday morning practices every week. This week was also the first of our hill training. Even tough it was tough, I thought about the reason I am here and pushed through. With every step in this experience I think how honored I am to be here helping to find a cure for leukemia and lymphona. Hearing the personal stories of my teammates who have been effected by the disease reminds me I am here to make a difference.


3/30- Last weekend the team and I ran in the Santa Monica Mountains. This run was beautiful, minus a little rain that started on our way back to home base. I have never been on this trail before, it was so beautiful and green! I ran part of this run with honored teammate Nick who was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia in 2004. What an amazing person/athlete. With the help of Gleevec, the breakthrough drug that extends the quality of his life, Nick is able to continue to compete in endurance sports such as marathons and triathlons. Thanks to money raised through LLS! Today I will be running 12 miles, and its through the money I am raising to help extend the lives of people like Nick, that make this experience so amazing and fulfilling!
