6 Days... But Who's Counting?? :)
Oct 08, 2012 by Dorothy Lai
All I can think about is Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco in six days - the pre-race preparation, the day-of game plan, and the motivation for the whole endeavor.
This kind of positive goal-seeking is addicting!
Also, I already miss Team In Training & the dedication this goal of mine has taken over the past few months. It has really been life-changing, meeting all these new, wonderful, philanthropic, dedicated, & kind people. Saturday mornings waking up to run "x" number of miles is made a pleasure by the great company of TNT!
I've told this to anyone who will listen, but if you're ever considering doing a marathon or half marathon, I HIGHLY recommend Team In Training for the program, the support, the quality people drawn toward this organization, and how you will feel dedicating yourself to an outstanding goal like this. The running is hard, and dare I say the fundraising is harder, but both are completely worth the effort and are really rewarding.
Fitness. Fun. Philanthropy.

This summer, my training has been made more enjoyable Tuesday evenings with the onset of a new local Pasadena running club that I now call home, Dog Haus Running Club (DHRC).
Appointed Philanthropy Chairperson of DHRC along with my dear friend and Team In Training Alumnus, Virginia Yee, we set to planning our very first event - Fitness. Fun. Philanthropy.! As part of FFP Running Clubs, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose motto is "Fitness. Fun. Philanthropy.", we agreed the event name was practically decided for us!
We thank you for your generosity for such a worthy cause benefitting an outstanding & lifesaving organization - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Please come out & enjoy yourself the evening of Friday, September 21st for food & drinks, prizes for physical & fun challenges, and auctions for some fabulous items, all accompanied by some awesome live music!
Reason for the fight...

With the official start of the TNT Fall Season, my motivation for this endeavor comes to light.
Cancer affects us all - whether it's personal, or a mother or friend's diagnosis. Every step of my race in October will bededicated to the eradication of cancer, &...
In Support Of:
Future cancer patients, to know that "it is not the death sentence is once was."
-Eileen Roe, in remission since 2000
...as well as...
In Memory Of:
Eileen Dorothy Mackey Roe
Roberta "Bobbie" Burdg
Marvin "Papa Babe" Burdg
I find it interesting that the attribution of a legitimate cause to an otherwise daunting goal makes such a difference in one's motivation to succeed.
Ready to rock this season! GO TEAM!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and reading about my latest endeavor with TNT for LLS! Our mission to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers starts with this basic step.
Continuing on that mission, I am running a half marathon (13.1 miles) as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. You can check back to this website throughtout the course of my training for a play-by-play of my experiences! Then on October 14, 2012, think of me running my tail off in the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, and give a little shoutout- "Go, go, Dee Row!"
Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. This will be improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, we can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
This is one of the greatest challenges I've taken on in my life, and I need your help to complete this mission! Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures!
Now put on your headphones & legwarmers and listen to the theme song for this mission! http://youtu.be/uZ2-9GdJgqc (Forgive the lame vid & choreography - it's the message of the song that counts! :)
THANK YOU for your donations & support!
