Thank you to everyone who attended our Bingo Night last night at Hamburger Mary's! I hope you had as much fun as we did! I am closer to my goal...but not done yet!
May 7, 2010 - Here I Go Again...
I recently came to a very clear realization: I am constantly running for my life. Not the way that might sound, but because of my life the past several years. It wasn’t so long ago that I took painkillers and muscle relaxers every 4 hours, and functioned as if I had taken only aspirin. It wasn’t so long ago I used a walker and I laugh…remembering that my back would spasm and my legs would give out and if it weren’t for the walker, I’d end up in a pile on the floor. It wasn’t so long ago that I went on my first walk with Bucket, and with Colleen…and added Melinda to the mix.
It wasn’t so long ago that I heard my least favorite sentence ever uttered, “I’m sorry to tell you this, but you have cancer.” And next week after my Onc visit I look forward to reporting back 2 years clean…
I am running for my life, because I never want to feel that helpless ever again. And I am running for the lives of others, because I want to do everything in my power to give them the life that I am so blessed to live.
This season I am sadly adding a new name to my ROCKSTAR list…the people I run in honor of, the people who inspire me, and the people who remind me why every dollar makes a difference:
Gary, my dear friend's brother-in-law, was diagnosed with Leukemia on April 21… know that we are all fighting for YOU.
And my ongoing list of ROCKSTARS:
Barbara, Sheila, Jeffrey, Ginger, Cathy, Tom, Audrey, Brandon, Judy, Stephanie, Violette, Judith, Chloe, Bunny, Chuck, Co, Kelly…and the list goes on.
With the help of so many people, I've raised over $10,000 the past 2 years. The contributions you've made are used toward research, patient services and family support. You are helping to make life easier for those dignosed with cancer, and for families who are often struggling to deal with their feelings while helping their loved one.
I am still not a political person, but I am a huge believer in human kindness and supporting those in need... I hope you will be part of my village and support LLS.
Thank you in advance for being on my team.

April 22, 2010 - Earth Day
Today is the day before I join a new team of 12 to run the Ragnar Relay, a relay race of 200 miles, which is divided into 36 legs. I will run Port Hueneme, Van Nuys to Studio City, and Long Beach. Thank you Bucket for telling me I must!
Today is also the day that Gary was diagnosed with Leukemia. A couple hours ago I got the email from his sis-in-law... so tomorrow is the day I will run with one name on my jersey, to honor the fight Gary is about to begin and to send him the strength to fight through. I wish you and your family the strength to fight, and the blessings of the friends and family you have to lift you up often.
Please consider helping me to help Gary, and so many others who are being given the same news today...or tomorrow...or a week from now...or ever.
You know I run because I can. You know I run because I, too, am running from cancer. I run because there are still people being diagnosed, even as we continue to cure.
Every amount helps...please.
And thank you in advance for your generosity,
Susie
March 15, 2010 - AGAIN???
This picture is part of our Spring 2010 team... some ran Carlsbad, some ran Mardi Gras and a lot of us will be running Los Angeles this coming Sunday, March 21st.
These people made me a better person, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to know them all. Many will be back for this new season...and here I go again!
I'm training to
participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In
Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin
lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in
honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are
the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the
ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a
donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance
LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!
