Running for a Cure
In 2009 I finished 3 half marathons and this year I'm going for my first full marathon! That's 26.2 miles, longer than my commute to work! But this time, I'm not just racing for myself, but for the many people who have been affected by Leukemia and Lymphoma.

Leukemia and Lymphoma are blood cancers. An estimated 912,938 people in the United States are living with, or are in remission from, leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every four minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.
Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of
20. Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.
The survival rate for myeloma is only 37.1 percent.
Genessee, why did you decide to run with Team in Training (TNT)?
Yes, I could have run this race on my own. But I knew that for such a big undertaking, that I would need support. Team in Training has helped over 300,000 people from all walks of life and various athletic ability complete endurance sporting events while helping raise money to fight blood cancers at the same time.
I have never been part of a charitable organization before. But with TNT, I have the opportunity to do something I love while doing something good at the same time.

So, what does this have to do with me?
By donating today, you are helping to further blood cancer research and to help fight these diseases. You are giving support to family members of patients affected by Leukemia and Lymphoma. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) not only funds research but provides information to educate people about blood cancers.
By donating today, you directly touch the lives of people living with these realities.
You are helping them fight the diseases and find a cure.
You are making a difference.
