Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

Last year I had the honor of participating in my first marathon -- the Long Beach Marathon -- as a member of the San Fernando Valley chapter of the LLS Team in Training. It was an incredible experience. I can't even describe in words what it felt like to cross the finish line. But as you can see from the pictures above, I did not do it alone. My TNT teammates were there to cross the line with me as my family stood by to cheer me on. It was an experience unlike any other I have ever had. The sense of accomplishment was immeasurable.

But I never forgot why I joined TNT in the first place -- in honor of my friend Christi's husband, Joel. A wonderful friend, husband and father, over the last year Joel has battled leukemia and put up a valiant fight. He has endured many treatments that make training for a marathon pale in comparison and he continues to fight the good fight against that dreadful disease. If he can keep fighting, so can we. We must find a cure.

So I've decided to train again and to participate in another endurance event (Nike Women's Marathon) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
