26.2 Miles to Honor Paul Fancler
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in The Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco on October 19th as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
57,000 people died last year from blood related cancers. That number seems unacceptably high, especially when one of those people is someone you loved.
I am running this marathon to honor my father, Paul Edward Fancler, who passed away from Leukemia on July 8, 2006. He was diagnosed in February of 2006 and fought hard for 5 months. The disease ravaged his body and my heart. I am running this race for him and for other daughters so that they might not have to lose their fathers to such a devastating disease.
I'm looking to raise $3,500 by September for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Society's goal is to raise one billion dollars by year end to cure blood cancers and improve the lives of patients and their families. The money raised will be used for research, financial assistance to patients, sponsoring scientific conferences around the country, producing educational materials and videos, running dozens of Family Support Groups and offering financial aid and support services to newly diagnosed patients. No amount is too little. Every dollar is appreciated. If you are not in the position to donate at this time, please forward this link to everyone that you know. Help raise awareness to fight blood cancers that are taking the lives of children and adults of all ages. We can't do it without you.
Thank you all for your love and support. Without friends and family I could not have made it to where I am today.
Look for me at the finish line.
