I HAVE NOT MET MY FUNDRAISING MINIMUM.

Please read on...

10/16/2008

Hi Everyone!

Look at that! I'm sooo close to meeting my fundraising goal! In order to participate in the event on Sunday I had to place the remaining amount ($836.00) on my PERSONAL credit card. I have faith we can raise the remaining funds together! My deadline to have funds turned in to the society is November 15th; so keep the donations coming in! I know together we can raise the full remaining amount with no problem. Donating is just a few clicks away and by contributing you will be joining the fight against cancer! Check it out and join Team Elizabeth!

Thank you for all of your continued support !

Cheers!

Elizabeth

So this week we had a surprise, I trained with Ryan Reynolds! Those of you who know me know how much I adore this handsome fella. Ummm, helllo! lol.... okay, okay... let's take a step back...so realistically now what really took place is while we were out training we happened to come across Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder, Waiting, Just Friends and Definitely Maybe are a few of his popular movies) a couple times on our 8-mile course. All the women out there reading this right now can appreciate the moment we all enjoyed. And yes, you should be jealous. Lol

As I mentioned we completed 8-miles this past weekend. When we finished I looked at Jen and said “You know, I just don’t feel like I got a good workout”. We both started laughing. 8-miles, not a good workout? It is just amazing to see how far we have come in the past 5-months. What a tremendous feeling.

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to check my website, donate funds and lend helpful advice along with encouraging words. I wouldn't have gotten this far without all of you. It's almost as if you are there running with me on those long training days.

I have 9-days remaining until the big day. Which leaves me a few last days of training and roughly $800.00 left to raise. For those of you that thought you missed the opportunity to donate there is still time. It's just a few clicks away and by donating you will be joining the fight against cancer! Check it out and join Team Elizabeth!

Thank you for your support!

Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for all of your donations! I’ve raised about half of my commitment to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For those of you who thought you ran out of time you are in luck! There is still time to get those last minute donations in. I would love for you to be a part of this exciting adventure with me. Your love and support definitely helps carry me through the high miles. Speaking of…

This past Sunday we completed a full 22-miles, yep that’s right count em’ loud and proud, 22- miles! That’s not to say there wasn’t any soreness or stiffness, but what an amazing feeling to have completed 22-miles in training for this wonderful foundation!

We are now at our tapering mark where our “big” mile days lessen. This weekend we are dropping down to only 8-miles. (How funny it is to say we are ONLY doing 8-miles). We maintain miles throughout the week along with cross-training to keep our bodies active and in shape for our quickly approaching event!

Stay Tuned!

Ok, let's be honest here... 5:00 am on a Sunday... Bruuutal. Especially now that football has started up. But completely worth it. We finished 4 hours 15 minutes at 10:15 am. Just perfect being the sun started coming out right about then. We were able to take full advantage of the cloud coverage all morning. I think it's the first time in my life where I was hoping the sun didn't make an appearance. Lol

We completed 16.5 miles roughly on this past Sunday. It felt good. Amazing, how I can say “wow only 10 more miles to go, piece of cake.” Crazy!

We are getting down to the last stretch here and we are gearing full force. Now is the time to get those last minute donations in for this amazing cause. Time is running short to meet the deadline and I have a little further to go.

Thank you to everyone for your tremendous support!

Love to you all

Hi Everyone!

First off I'd like to thank all of you for your kind words, support, encouragement, donations and advice. I don't think I would have made it this far without all of you. You have definitely helped keep me motivated.

And now on to my progress with the training. My knee is doing, I would say, about 75% better! Whish is great news! I went back to yoga and spin classes this week and definitely had my butt handed to me. It hurts so good, right? lol I’m looking forward to 4 hours and 30 minutes of training this Sunday. We are starting at 6:00 am so we are able to take full advantage of the cool air and clouds. And it allows us to have some of our Sunday still free… But let’s be honest, after 4 hours of training it will be hard to get me up off the couch after that. Lol

Thanks again and I hope you are all having a great week!

oxo,

Elizabeth

As part of my training for the marathon I signed up to participate in the first annual Big Bear 1/2 Marathon. 13.1 miles with the elevation ranging from 6,750 feet (the elevation of Big Bear Lake) to around 6,900 feet and "rolling" hills. After not having trained for nearly three weeks due to my knee injury I was quite worried about participating and being able to finish. But the knee held it together and I completed my first half in 3:03:31.62

It was definitely a great training for the marathon and an absolutely wonderful feeling accomplishing 13.1 miles. I would have never thought I would ever run/walk that distance.

Thank you to everyone for your support. It definitely helps when you are out there on the road after a few miles and start to wonder where on earth you are and how did you get there. lol

love to you,

Elizabeth

Did you know...Your donation could do the following:

$25 = educational materials to patients and their families

$50 = a trained facilitator for family counseling, comfort and communication

$100 = 10 Kaiser visit co-pays

$300 = parking for 6 weeks of radiation treatments at UCLA/Children’s Hospital

$400 = transportation for one out of state bone marrow donor

$500 = allows Patient Financial Aid program to reimburse $500/year for costs of misc.

Expenses not covered by insurance:

$1,000 = 20% co-pay for five months of chemotherapy drug

$2000 = one month supply of chemotherapy drug

$5000 = transportation for 13 out of state bone marrow donors

$10,000 = 10 weeks of Kaiser co-payments

If my teammates and I raise $100,000 it will pay for a research grant

Okay, minor set-back in the training this week... I managed to injure the back of my left knee (yes, medical terminology is flowing here) on Sunday. By Sunday night I was hobbling around Target looking for Icy-Hot balm and Monday at work was quite interesting. I could barely walk! But it is now Thursday and although I'm not fully healed I am able to walk , at a decent pace even, and am looking forward to my spin class this evening. This Sunday we are training for 3 1/2 hours so I have to make sure I'm well rested and the knee is doing better.

Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive thus far. You are all so amazing. I'm truly blessed to have such wonderful friends in my life.

Much love to you,

Elizabeth

Today we received our paperwork from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for our recommitment to the event and our fundraising. As of lately my nervousness has been growing as our deadline quickly approaches, but for some reason as I read over the details and guidelines my nervousness shifted to excitement and I am looking forward to the event and showing my teammates just what I can do to help support this wonderful cause. GO TEAM!

Hi there!

I figured it was due time to update everyone on my progress. My big mile training day with Team in Training is on Sundays. We are currently up to 12-miles (just about a half-marathon) and let me tell you there are days where Jen (training partner and friend pictured here with me... hey, don't judge us we just finished a yoga class before this photo) has to drag me the whole way. But we are out there and doing it! To help with my training (and lets be honest, help me lose some lb's as well) I have started taking a spin class twice a week and yoga twice a week on top of my miles I do on my own throughout the week days. All is going well and I'm still standing... for now anyways, lol.... stay tuned for updates along the way.

Much Love to you,

Elizabeth

Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you already know, I have taken a great interest in improving myself as an individual mentally and physically this past year. My next goal is to complete the Nike Women’s Marathon, 26.2 miles, on October 19, 2008. I have chosen to represent Team in Training in this conquest! This way, I not only receive a mountain of support in my journey, but I gain the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for research leading to a cure for Leukemia and other blood related cancers. You may be thinking I have completely lost my mind, but I have been so blessed with my health and extraordinary life that I would love to give something back.

To accomplish this exciting goal, I have joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. With a coach, a training regimen and other team members to train with, I have every confidence that I will succeed. I am fortunate to have four honored teammates in my chapter and am extremely motivated to make them proud of what I can accomplish for the cause.

I invite you to support me as I fundraise for the Team in Training program and train for the Nike Women’s Marathon on October 19. I have made a personal commitment to raise $3,200.00. Your tax-deductible donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will further this great cause. I am asking for your support in making a difference. 75% of all donations go directly to the cause, so I am asking you to be as generous as possible. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society prides itself in having an expense ratio of no more than 25%, and was rated by Money magazine as one of the top ten charities for having the highest percentage of funds raised directly benefiting research and patient services.

My personal fundraising deadline is September 30, 2008 so I ask that you send your contribution by then. This will help me monitor my progress. I will, of course, still accept donations that come in after September 30.

All donations are 100% tax-deductible, and the tax ID is 13-5644916. Feel free to pass this along to your family & friends. Also check to see if your company has a matching gifts program, it’s an easy way to double your donation!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter and (potentially) involving yourselves in such a wonderful cause.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see updates on my progress. Thank you for your support!

Again, on behalf of Team in Training and myself, I thank you for your support and look forward to sharing my experience with such an amazing organization with you all.

Remember….

“LET’S NOT LIMIT OUR CHALLENGES,

INSTEAD,

LET’S CHALLENGE OUR LIMIT’S!”

Much Love and Gratitude,

Elizabeth
