I am proud to work for Kaiser Permanente.

My name is Louis Kwan and I training for Ironman CDA in June 2011 and Ironman Canda in Aug 2011. Each of these events consist of a 2.4 mi swim, 112 mi bike, and 26.2 mi run. That's a total of 140.6 mi. I am never an athlete. I cannot run one mi nonstop when I was in high school and I did not know how to swim until 2009.

But back in 2008 something changed. I trained with Team In Training for LA marathon to fundraise for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In march 2008, I ran the Los Angeles Marathon as my first marathon. I was slow but I crossed the finishline with a great smile.

In 2009 I joined the Team In Training Ironteam and completed my first Ironman distance triathlon to honor the cancer suvivors that I met from Team In Training. They taught me to be strong as they are the strongest group of people that I never known. Did I say a few of them are kids!

I keep doing this because I like the challenge and I am able to help others achieve their fitness goals. After I finished my first marathon friends and coworkers started talking to me about their goals. Since then a few of my friends started training for marathon and 4 of my Kaiser Permanente coworkers joined Team In Training to complete their marathons and triathlons. Seeing people crossing the finishline is one of the greatest feeling you can have.
