For Stephen...and my dad.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
You've got to love the wonderful world of Facebook! About ten years ago, I was super tight with my friend Stephen Dickter. We did everything together, and then I got a boyfriend, he got a girlfriend and life got in the way. About a month ago I saw Stephen on another friend's profile, sent a friend request and about a week later read his first blog about his diagnosis of Hodgkins Lymphoma. Wow, okay. My Dad had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and I knew that was the bad one...so, that was a reference point. I knew that Stephen was responding well to chemo, so that was great. I knew that Stephen had the "good" Lymphoma, so that was really good. I knew that I wanted to do something to help my old friend and I had run a marathon in memory of my dad the year after he passed away, but I haven't run since then...could I really do another???
Then I thought of the crappy summer Stephen is going to have, 12 rounds of chemo, endless visits to the hospital...surely, running isn't nearly as painful as that, right? Right??? Right!!! And, hey, I've got until October 11th to train for the Long Beach Marathon.
So, here I am, raising money for all Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. Will you help me create more survivors? Oh, and if you see me running in my little purple jersey, give me a honk or a shout, I'm gonna need it!!!
Thanks!!!
