"Running for Lola"
In loving memory of Lola Bernadette Kohler
July 7, 1944 - January 19, 2008
Thank you to everyone who supported me and donated funds to this incredible cause!
To my great shock and surprise, I FINISHED the half-marathon yesterday in 3 hours, 2 minutes, 57 seconds. Deduct 15 minutes for the first potty break (the line was absurdly long) and take into account I took one long walking break where I walked for about a half to 3/4 of a mile. All the rest of my walking breaks were about 1-3 minutes each.
For those of you unfamiliar with race times, an ELITE runner will finish a full marathon (26.2) miles in 2:30. Sooooooooo, needless to say, I was in the bottom 3/4 of the group in terms of speed, but hey- I finished! Only a week before the race, my back went out and I thought I wouldn't be able to do it at all.
I truly felt Lola's presence with me the whole way. When it got tough and I didn't think I could keep running, I thought of Lola. While I only had to struggle for 13.1 miles, Lola struggled for 20 MONTHS. And miraculously, whenever I needed the extra pep, there was a team of other runners throughout the course that were wearing t-shirts that said, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This became my mantra and between that, and Lola's inspiration, I FINISHED!

**I'M RUNNING ON RACE DAY!!!***
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who has supported me with their love and generousity. Your words of encouragement and selfless donations have kept me inspired and energized throughout this training season.
RACE DAY IS LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY!!!

Some of you might know that due to my stress fracture, I had decided to postpone my run and participate in a race early next year instead. However, after much consideration, I've decided to RUN THE RACE THIS WEEKEND! Everything seems to be doing well (my back is better, my leg is better) and I'm gonna go for it!
Thank you so much for all your love and support! Collectively, we raised almost $3800, and my team alone raised over $226,000!! Thanks to all of YOU!
Love & Blessings,
