Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I will be participating in a Triathlon (running, biking and swimming). This is an endurance event I never envisioned myself involved in. The training is extensive especially with asthma. Fortunately Im not in it alone; Im part of a supportive and encouraging team. It would take something really significant to motivate me to even attempt such a feat. Finding a cure for the many forms of blood cancer may seem noble, but when I experienced the life and death of Tom Hockney to Leukemia it became personal. It is in his honor that I am participating in this event.
Tom Hockney was a wonderful man. He was a great husband to Jackie, a loving father to his sons, Jason and Jonathan, and a true friend to my family. I remember visiting him in the hospital the day before they took him off life support. He was in a drug induced coma and the only things keeping him alive were the machines. His was a long and painful battle. Tom passed away the day after our visit. I cannot imagine life without my Dad. After Tom's death all I could think about was the loss and loneliness his family must have felt. To have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people battling these cancers and their families is simply indescribable. These people are the real heroes on our team
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training is raising funds through this Triathlon. The search for a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin Lymphoma and Myeloma will all benefit from this event. Your donation to support my participation in Team In Training will help advance LLS mission.
Visit my web site often to check on my progress. I seek not only your financial support, but your prayers and encouragement also. Some days putting one foot in front of another is hard enough. When those feet have to move fast it can be a real challenge. Thank you for your involvement in any way as I strive to cross the finish line.
Thank You <3
