Racing to Save Lives
That's a picture of me after completing a mock triathlon set up by our coaches and mentors at Zuma beach this past February as part of training for the real triathlon coming up at the end of March. Although we were unable to do the swimming leg of the race due to rough water, just the fact that I was able to complete the 18 mile bike ride followed by the 4 mile run is something I consider a great success for myself. Looks like the months of training is paying off!
I'm training to participate in an a triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. How long is this triathlon you ask? It's Olympic distance so that means:
1500 m (.9 mi) ocean swim
40k (24.8 mi) Bike ride
10K (6.2 mi) run
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
