It's true! I'm actually going to do a full Marathon!

I'm training to participate in the 2009 Honolulu Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

The cause is near and dear to my heart. My Grandmother, Amy, was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in December 2006. For the next 3 months after that she underwent several chemotherapy treatments to fight off the cancer. At the time, the chemotherapy had worked and she was in remission. Unfortunately, 6 months later IT came back into our lives. This time around she received a stronger dose of chemotherapy and underwent a stem cell transplant at the City of Hope. My Grandmother is one of the strongest women I know and it was so hard to see her hospitalized, unable to get out of bed, and struggling to live . I'm VERY HAPPY to say that she has been in remission for the past 9 months and is getting stronger every day! I am running in honor of my Grandmother, all those who are currently battling cancer, those who are in remission, and those who have lost their lives. If you have a friend or family member you'd like me to run in honor or memory of, please let me know and I will pin their name to my race day jersey.

My hope is that you will read my message and be inspired to do something to help find a cure! Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Keep in mind, there is no such thing as donating too little!
