Racing to Save Lives
********I DECIDED TO CHANGE MY 1/2 TO A FULL MARATHON!!!!*********
Dear Friends & Family:
I’ve always liked to run. This time I will not only run for my own personal pleasure but it will be for a great cause! Through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, I will be running a marathon with the help of great coaches, mentors and teammates whose support will help me across the finish line. I will be running the San Francisco Nike Women’s marathon On October 16th, 2010!
More significantly even than my physical commitment to the program, there is my commitment to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its efforts to find cure for Leukemia and other cancers. All participants are involved in a life saving mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and other cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Each and every one of us may know or will know someone with or have experienced cancer. A great amount of progress has been made in the treatment of this disease.
I am not only running this race for the Society, but also in memory of two very dear and loved ones to me [and their families] Jim and Noemi, whom will always be with us in spirit. Because of Team In Training, soon we will improve and save so many lives. My goal is to raise $3,000 toward this effort.
As I run the 26.2 miles on October 16th 2010, Jim and Noemi’s fight and your sponsorship will inspire me to run stronger and faster to the finish line. A donation of one dollar per mile is suggested, but any contribution is no little contribution…it all adds up! Over 75% of the donations will go directly into research, and can truly make a difference. If possible, please send your donations along with the enclosed donor form by September 7th, so I can monitor my fund raising efforts.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity.
Love Always,
Mimi Garcia
