Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event, at the Disneyland Half Marathon on September 5, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers and dedicating this event to my grandmother, Adelaida Nigoza who has leukemia. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Last day to donate is on August 19.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Hi Everyone! I'm going to try an update this site as often as I can to fill you in on my progress with my training, as well as my fundraiser. So far my training is going pretty well. The most I've ran so far is 7.8 miles in about an hour and a half. I'm probably going to do that again tomorrow. Fundraiser is kind of slow right now but I'm trying another way to raise money. I have 3 cases of caramel apples; each case has 24 apples. I hope this works. See yah later : )

Did hill repeats today at Porter Ranch. Not too bad, only did 3 reps of them. Well actually 4. First, jogged down on Porter Ranch Dr. for 10-20 minutes. Then run up the hill and down the hill. Run up for 2 minutes then go back down for 3 minutes. Finally, run up the hill from Porter Ranch Dr. to Corbin with a 2 to 1 interval. By this time I'm getting tired. Then did my 5 to 2 interval running on Corbin down to Porter Ranch Dr. Dude...I was sprinting so fast on the way down..lol. I thought that was fun. So I didn't get to run on the 17th cause I did too many errands and I saw a concert later that day at the Nokia Theater with my boyfriend, Jeff. Why on earth did the Laker game land on that day. So hard trying to get in the Nokia theater with all the crazy Laker fans. However I did end up working out that day going home since we took the subway. This was insane, we walked from the Staples Center to the Disney Concert Hall, that's near Chinatown. We had to walk that far to get to an open subway entrance because the others near the Staples Center were close. So powerwalked the whole time and there happened to be hills..lol. Anyways, my fundraiser is doing pretty well. Sold 4 boxes now, but still a long way from my goal. I'll just remain positive that I can reach it by the deadline. Don't forget my deadline is on August 19. So please donate before then. See yah later : )

Training for today was a 6 mile hike. I can't believe my pledge sister and I hike 3 miles up the fire trail on Sylmar. We passed our usual 2 1/2 mile mark that reads Highway 2 Hell. Still find it weird that they would write that on the floor. Someone wrote that more that once on the trail. I'm surprised that we didn't get scared after the 2 1/2 mile mark and that warning signs we were given...lol. The only thing scary about the trail are the freaking lizards. We even saw one that was dead and was missing a tail. It was laying in the middle of the trail it looked like a snake. So when we saw it a second time we just bolted out of there...lol. Anyways, good hike today with my pledge sister. Tomorrow, run for about 7.8 miles. Laters.
Tuesday 6.29.10
Training for today was an 8 mile run. Did the run in an hour and 45 minutes. This was a little slower than my 8 mile run last Saturday. I was able to do it in an hour and a half. However, this run was a major improvement from the first time we did an 8 mile run. My sis and I almost took 2 hours to do an 8 mile run and that was last week Thursday. I think we would have done better if my left leg didn't cramp up so much. Anyways, yesterday we did a 6 1/2 mile hike. Every Monday morning this is what I see during my hikes. Pretty freaky...lol

Sorry folks for not blogging lately. Just an update on my running. I'm up to 10 miles now, would have done 12 miles last Saturday. Unfortunately, I am injured right now : ( my left foot hurts so much and it feels like it is being stabbed my knives. So right now I have to put my running on hold till I get better. Only 17 days left till I run that 13.1 miles. I am nervous and excited at the same time for the run. I'm doing this run for my grandma who has leukemia. I just want to thank all those who have donated so far and supported me in my fundraisers. You are helping my grandma live longer so that she can tell me and my other cousins how much she loves us. Not only are you helping her, but you are helping others just like her live just as long to say to their loved ones "I love you." Thank you again for donating.
