Racing to Save Lives

Dear Friends,

It seems like just yesterday that I sat down to write my 2010 letter to all of you to appeal for your support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s fight against blood cancers. I guess time flies. This year, my 10th year with the LLS’s Team in Training, I’m training and fundraising for the Mayor’s Marathon in Anchorage, Alaska again which will take place on June 18, 2011.

This has all been made possible, of course, by your generous support over the years. Thank you. I am most appreciative. You have helped countless patients and their families in many ways. For instance, you have helped fund research for cures and new treatment protocols, provided transportation funds for patients and families so they may receive the best care, provided subsidies for medicines to help those who can’t afford them, provided psychological support for patients and their families and provided educational materials on various topics for patients and their families, just to name a few things.

You may recall that last year we were training and fundraising for our Honored Teammates Roger Klinkhart and Tyler Cordova and this year, we continue to train and fundraise in their honor. Roger is doing quite well and spends a lot of his time volunteering for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Young Tyler is still dealing with the after effects of his stem cell transplant. He almost died last summer, but through a Herculean research effort by his dad that led to a change in medication, he survived and is slowly recovering. I am in total awe of this tough, resilient young man (now eight years old) and his great family. I guess Tyler’s story and many others like it keep me going at this. I am also deeply heartened by the support you all have provided over the years. Thank you very much. Thank you also for considering this appeal.

As an inducement for a generous donation of $150 for more, I will with great gratitude and joy print for you your choice of any of the images appearing in the Gallery portion of my website.

All images will be printed archivally on 16 x 20 fibre paper with image size of approximately 10 x 10, 10 x 12, or 10 x 15 depending on the image chosen. All images will be either Selenium or Sepia toned for additional permanence, then mounted, matted and framed. Contact me if you have questions.
