Buy A Mile of My Marathon
May 27, 2011 by Paul Wintner
-
I'm raising money for each mile. It's going to work like a sponsorship. I am $1,900 away from my goal, so I just need 19 miles of sponsorship. Each mile is worth $100.
What to do: Donate $100 by selecting the $100 option and clicking the "Donate Now" button. In the message section tell me what mile you want and if you'd like it in honor of anyone. During my marathon I'll wear my offical TNT t-shirt with the names of everyone who donated and the mile they chose. It'll be like your right there with me!
**To put this in perspective**
$100 = pair of concert tickets or a fancy dinner out...
OR
$100 could mean...Funding for a family support group with trained facilitator, or registration for 1 person to be a bone marrow donor.
For people who don't want to or can't pay $100 I still love, appreciate and encourage ANY amount of donation! EACH AND EVERY ONE COUNTS!!!

Week 4- A 6 mile run
Mar 07, 2011 by Paul Wintner
-

So this Sunday was a 6 mile run. It's the longest I've run since November. But I felt good during and after the run. I ran at an 8:16/mile pace. My goal is to beat my personal record of 3:31 that I ran in the Honolulu Marathon.
I am not in as good of shape as I was for the Honolulu marthon, but I'm confident if I keep training and keep running, I will get there.
Every Sunday we have one of our team mates share a story about why they decided to run with Team in Training. This last practice, Joe, told his story. He stated with TNT in 2006 shortly after his dad passed away from a 3 year battle with Lymphoma. Shortly after joining TNT he found out that his 3 year old niece was diagnosed with Leukemia. So his participation with TNT took on even more meaning. Joe has now run 4 marathons with TNT and the day before is last marathon on Nov 21, 2010 he found out his niece was finished with her 2 years of chemotherapy treatment and was cancer free.
Leukemia and Lymphoma is still a devastating cancer, but with the help from TNT the Leukemia Lymphoma Society has been able to come up with numerous new drugs and treatments to battle the various blood cancers.
I am so grateful that I have not had anyone in my immediate family that has had to deal with this disease. However, my dear friend, Angela Landy, is having to be there for her mom, Carmel Maguire, who just found out that her Lymphoma returned after years of being in remission. All the treatment available to her is due in large part to research done by The Leukemia Lymphoma Society. She is currently in her 3rd round of chemo treatments and her prognosis is good. So this year, I am running for her. Please keep Carmel in your prayers.
Thank you for all your support.

Week 2- And we're off!
Feb 23, 2011 by Paul Wintner
-

We just finished week 2 of training and we're off to a great start. We ran 4 miles this last Sunday and it was great to be back at the beach running with my fellow TNT'ers. If feels great to be a part of something bigger than myself. Every week we have an honored teammate come and speak to remind us of why we are running. This week was a woman (I forget her name) who was diagnosed with stage 3 Lymphoma and was only given 4-6 years to live. And she is now in remission for over 7 years due to an experimental chemo-therapy that was developed due to the funding from TNT. So, THANK YOU to everyone for your support and donations. We really do HELP SAVE LIVES.
HAGW!
