Racing to Save Lives
Dear Friends,
Again let me thank you all for your support of my fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training marathon/fundraising program over these past eight years. While 2009 was not my best year of fundraising, I was able through your support to reach my goal. Unfortunately, I broke my foot while training and was unable to participate in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Seattle as planned. On the other hand, I was able to participate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco after I healed up. Yes, I “ran like a girl.” Actually, I finished on top of my age division—I think this was a mistake, but I’m not going to argue.
As you remember, last year we were training and fundraising for our Honored Teammates, now seven-year-old Tyler and nine-year-old Natalie. Natalie has recovered from her bone marrow transplant and is out of the cancer loop and back to the real world of a young person home again. Tyler underwent a stem cell transplant and is still recovering from that ordeal, an ordeal I might add that has been made easier by your support as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is funding some very practical research at sthe City of Hope aimed at making the aftermath of a transplant easier on the transplantee. This research has helped Tyler and many other people in his position. And God knows it’s help that a seven-year-old kid who has been fighting cancer since he was four deserves (as does his family.) I could go on and on, but I won’t.
Tyler is joined this year as an Honored Teammate by Roger Klinkhart who is fighting the good fight against chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and is currently in a new clinical trial and is doing well.
You may donate here on my secure website or you may write a check payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and send it to me at 2048 Galbreath Rd., Pasadena, CA 91104. I would appreciate your donation as soon as possible, but I can accept it anytime before my event, which is the Mayor's Marathon in Anchorage, Ak on June 19.
Special Donation Incentive
Fine Art for a Fine Cause at a Fine Price
As an inducement for a generous donation of $150.00 or more, I will with great gratitude and joy print for you your choice of any of the images appearing in the Gallery portion of my website www.darkroomworkshop.com.
All images will be printed archivally on 16 x 20 fibre paper with image size of approximately 10 x 10, 10 x 12, 10 x 15 depending on image chosen. All images will be either Selenium or Sepia toned for additional permanence, then mounted, matted and framed.
Thanks again for your past support and taking the time to read my appeal. As it was a pretty tough time economically last year, so it is again this year and as always, I appreciate all and any support.
