WELCOME TO THE $1 PROJECT!

This year, I decided I want to make a difference. I joined Team in Training -- and it has been great! It's a wonderful program to train for an endurance event, and in the process you raise money for an incredible charity, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Generally in this program people will send out letters to the people they know asking for as generous donation as they can spare to meet a specific goal. My marathon is in less than 2 weeks. I've been training for months, and after seeing many of my running buddies cross the finish line at the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon last week, I came to a conclusion -- this isn't just about asking people I know to donate. It's BIGGER.

This is about spreading the word. Educating others. Coming together to cross that BIG finish line. A cure. And the cause is only as big as the sum of all it's parts.

So I'm starting the $1 Project. Doctors, patients and their families need our help, and it will only work if we keep this going.

Racing to Save Lives

For my 2009 New Year's Resolution I knew I needed to get back in shape, and more importantly I knew I needed to find a way to start giving back to my community and to others.

It didn't take long for me to find a way to achieve both of these goals within the first half of the year and I'm now training to run a marathon in Anchorage, Alaska this coming June as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease and myeloma from taking more lives. I will be running in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, including my AMAZING honored teammate Stevie who you can see in the photo above. I've had the opportunity to meet Stevie and his family. He is an incredible three-year-old fighting through weekly chemotherapy treatments and ultimately for his life. Sure makes 26.2 miles seem like a walk in the park! I am also taking on this challenge in honor of the many friends I have known who have battled blood and other types of cancer.

In my opinion, these people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your help! Please consider making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
