Jayme Singer's Quest to Cure Cancer!
I'm training to participate in America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride, a 100 mile bike ride around Lake Tahoe as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
My mission is to once again prove to myself that we can do anything we set our minds to, which includes curing cancer! I am myself a survivor of Hodgkin Lymphoma. I was diagnosed at age 23, shortly after my college graduation. I endured 6 months of chemotherapy, and a month of radiation, through which I lost all of my hair, but never my hope. I am happy to say that because of people like you, who gave so graciously to the cause, I was able to get the best medicine around, and am now officially cured! Although my battle was 6 years ago, I still go to get checkups every 3 months. Unfortunately it is a lifetime battle, since the doctors can never be 100% sure that the cancer will not come back.
I am now 29 and have completed the LA marathon, an Olympic distance triathlon in Maui, and am now taking on a 100 mile bike ride, all in the name of curing cancer! My journey will be long and tiresome, and take a whole lot of hard work; but it will be nothing in comparison to what so many people must endure while going through chemotherapy/ radiation. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals I have met along the way who are battling or have won their battle with blood cancers (Megan, Marz, Danielle, Kyle, just to name a few). These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please join me in my quest to cure cancer and consider making a tax-deductible donation to support my participation in Team In Training.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
