An Ironman for Ken Welcome to my Team In Training home page. As many of you know, my father-in-law, Ken Droegemueller, lost his two-year battle with lymphoma in December 2007. Ken fought through five surgeries and over 400 days in the hospital with a single goal in mind - to walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day. Ken achieved his goal and, in doing so, became an inspiration to everyone around him. To honor Ken's memory, I will be competing in my first half AND full Ironman events as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training (TNT). I'm supporting the cause and raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Im hoping that my efforts along with those of my TNT teammates will help find a cure for these devastating diseases. On May 2, 2009, I will be racing in one of the premier triathlons nationally and internationally - the AVIA Wildflower Long Course at Lake San Antonio in Monterey County, California. This 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run course is one of the most challenging triathlon courses in the world. My training will continue throughout the summer and, on August 1, 2009, I will compete in the Vineman Ironman. The Vineman course includes a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a marathon (26.2 miles) and passes through Sonoma County's beautiful wine country. Given that I've never completed such distances in any of the sports, I've decided to combine themon a single day and check three boxes at once! My personal goal is to raise $7,500 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by March 31, 2009 for the VIneman event. This would bring my total amount raised to $11,500 including the $4,000 I raised for the Wildflower event (thank you all for your early support!). I know these are challenging times for everyone, but please know that every dollar counts. Please make your secure, tax-deductible donation today to support my participation in Team In Training and to help advance LLS's mission. Also, let me know if your company matches your donation! You can donate with a credit card on this page or mail a check made out to "Leukemia & Lymphoma Society" or "LLS" to: Steve Moore 401 29th Street Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 If you have any questions please contact me at smoore@brentwood.com.
