Welcome to My Team In Training Donation & Information Page
The Donations are working now. Sorry for the inconvenience earlier. Thanks everyone!
(Please check back often for updates and special fundraising events that I will be conducting from now until my donation deadline on October 21, 2009!)
I'm training to participate in the Marin County Triathlon on Saturday, November 1st along San Pablo Bay at China Champ State Park in San Raphael, California. This is my 1st triathlon, and I have decided to go all out and participate in the Olympic distance event which consists of a .93 mile swim, 23.8 mile bike ride, and a 6.2 mile sprint to the finish line!
As a participant in the Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training, I am making a committment to raise at least $3500 to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, including my grandma as well. Currently, there are an estimated 894,000 people living with blood cancers in the United States. Eventually, I will pick or be assigned a patient for whom I will be competing for.
There are several reasons why I have decided to particpate in this event through Team in Training. Foremost, I have been wanting to compete athletically again for quite some time, but I have lacked the self-discipline and training habits needed to be in the physical condition that I desire. The training provided by TNT will allow me to become a more disciplined person in all areas of my life. Learning to balance work, family, friends, relationships, and physical activity has been a constant struggle for me, and more so ately than ever before.
While I seek the self-discipline required to train for a triathlon, I am greatly intrigued by the opportunity to get involved in my community. A couple of years ago I backed out of a community project that I was putting on through Landmark Education. Creating fundraising events, enrolling local businesses in the fight against leukemina, and just the simple feat of sharing wtih people what I am up to will go long ways in helping me grow to be a more powerful, kind-loving, and personable person. I am looking foward to the chance of meeting new people and establishing relationships wtih others than I would never had a chance to do otherwise.
Most importantly, as I use TNT for my own personal growth, I have an a chance to help those less fortunate individuals and create support for a cause that benefits all of humanity. Hopefully, with the help and support of my friends, family, and community, as I cross the finish line on Nov 1, we get 1 step closer to crossing the ultimate finish line - a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma diseases.
Again, I'd like to thank you for visiting my page, and invite you to kindly make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and in LLS's mission.
