Map of Central Park 10K route Dave's 28-pound striped bass catch in 2017
My family was directly impacted with a diagnosis of leukemia in 2011. Thankfully, my dad David was able to make it out of dire circumstances in the ICU at Memorial Sloan Kettering 7 years ago. With treatments, he is doing well at this time, and able to enjoy his avid pastime of fly fishing [always releasing the fish back into the water!]
As a way to "pay it forward" with gratitude for the leukemia research that had been done to benefit his treatment plan & recovery, I am part of a team walking 6.2 miles in Central Park on June 9th as a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to continue the efforts to find effective interventions for blood cancer patients. The leader of our team, a neighbor and friend, was diagnosed in 2012 with multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer of the bone marrow. So you can see how near and dear this endeavor is to my heart.
Your support in this mission to help others would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Deirdre
...and unlike Michael Scott's donation on The Office, this donation is not "per mile!" : )
