1/9/2008 -- Hi Everyone and thank you to all of you who supported me in my first Half Marathon, and my fundraising efforts to help end all blood cancers with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. The big race is tomorrow and I am ready! I will be thinking of all of you and who have faced cancer yourselves or supported your loved ones through the fight of their lives. Thank you for your thoughts and wishes, and just like my sold signs say "Judy Did It" in the workplace, I know you'll say "Judy Did It", after Disney's 2009 Half Marathon tomorrow!
1/8/2008 -- Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who have supported me with your donations for LLS, and also to my wonderful team of mentors, my Energized Team for your understanding, late mornings, etc. And for those of you who would like, there's still time to make a small donation. The cut off is January 31st. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.
I AM READY WILLING AND ABLE -- a term that applies to much more than real estate. Let the race begin!!!
11/20/2008 - Well its been about 10 weeks now and I am smack dab in the middle of my training..just in time for frigid weather conditions. When I think of the support and backing so many of you have given me, and add that to the lives and pain we may have a small part in saving, I just put on my radiator heated skivvies and head right out the door. Raising money for this incredible cause has taught me that we are a community of GIVERS, people who in tough times, reach in their pocket and know that they get by giving, and that we as humans, know we are human by our capacity to give! THANK YOU! I am almost there..just another 10 weeks, I do my first 10 miler right after Thanksgiving (that's a run my post-turkey, trimmings and pumpkin pie filled body will give great thanks for!).
Heres a picture of me last Saturday's rain soaked 8.5 miler... with purpose you can rejoice in almost anything!
10/10/2008 - Hi, I am about 4 weeks in to training for the half marathon now, and things are going well. Am running about 25 miles a week, starting at 7:30 am most days, and on my long Saturday runs, getting up at 5 am to be out with TNT coaches by 7! The inspiration is the good people that support me in this goal and especially thinking that my pains in awakening early are NOTHING compared to what it takes anyone who has cancer to get up every day and fight another day. That's what gets me up in a flash and pushes me out the door before sunlight.
THANK YOU to my friends and clients who have already shown their support, especially in these tough economic times. You are really making a difference to the lives of so many living with and fighting through the challenges of cancer, and I am most grateful. If you have not had a chance to make a contribution yet, please do not worry about the amount, ANY amount is so appreciated by me and by the the organization I am running with .
By the way, I am supplementing my running schedule with a lot of real estate work with my team, as we continue to sell North Queens homes, and work to achieve our mission of creating raving fans of our clients, customers, and business associates, by the way we do business..not just the volume of business we do, which is not too shabby either! PLUS, if you know me, you'll be relieved to know that I find time to relax in a weekly "HOT YOGA" class, which is absolutely wonderful, provided by Be Hot Yoga, in Bayside. If you are interested in hearing more, just give me a call. Thanks for reading, and for your support!
9/26/2008 - I want to let you know that as part of the community of families dealing with life’s every day issues, I am joining the fight against all blood cancers by running in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training Walt Disney World Marathon & Half Marathon on January 11, 2009. It is the 20th anniversary of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program and since 1988, over 360,000 participants have raised more than $850 million to fund important research, provide diagnostic treatment services for medically underserved men and women, and deliver emotional support services for people with cancer and their families.
We all have a mother, father, daughter, son, sister, brother, cousin, aunt, uncle, or friend, that has either been diagnosed with cancer or who was worried, but relieved by test results that came back negative and that they’d avoided the illness. Simply put, each and every one of us has been impacted by cancer in some way. If you could, please send any donation to this highly worthy cause along with the name of someone you love, and I will proudly wear a T-shirt with your loved one’s name on it in their honor, when I run the race. Your contribution can be made in any amount from $15.00 to $10,000.00 and you can do it right here, online, with a major credit card. Please make sure you provide your loved one’s name with your donation so I can put your special someone name on the shirt. Once I see your name on my donation list, I will be contacting you personally to thank you.
Thank you for supporting a cause that impacts us all. As always, I feel privileged to know you.
Energetically,
Judy Markowitz
