We are spirited, optimistic and relentless.  Our training season started with a few Saturdays of rain.  Did that stop TEAM SOAR? No.  The new year brought weeks and weeks of snow.  Did that stop TEAM SOAR?  No.  The first week of March brought icy streets.  Did that stop TEAM SOAR? No.

What, then, would stop TEAM SOAR?  A cure.  That is the only thing that will stop us from walking/running to raise awareness of, and funds for, a cure for blood cancers.

We are incredibly grateful to our many donors and supporters, and to our families who encourage us to be involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Thanks to you, we are closer than ever to finding a cure for blood cancers.

Team SOAR for a CURE brings together friends, old and new, who have a mission to find a CURE for blood cancer.  We have committed to walk/run/run-walk for 13.1 miles in the New York City Half Marathon, on March 15, 2015, and we are fundraising to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their mission.  Many of us have never done anything like this before, but we are committed because we have seen firsthand how cancer has taken our friends and family, and we want to help find a cure.

The statistics are staggering: one person every three minutes is diagnosed with a blood cancer.  One person every ten minutes dies from a blood cancer.  And cancer does not disciminate: any one of us could be diagnosed with blood cancer.  Blood cancer is the number one childhood cancer killer.  Heartbreaking.

The good news is that, thanks to research, life expectancy has doubled, tripled, and even quadrupled.  But it is not enough.  We need a cure NOW.
