Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
On February 28, 2010 I will be running for a reason much more important than the personal challenge of completing a marathon.
As a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training, I have pledged to train on the behalf of Faron Benoit. Faron, only fourteen years old, is a survivor or Hodgkin Lymphoma. I have also pledged to raise money for leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma research and patient service programs.
As you may or may not know, leukemia is the #1 disease killer of children and young adults under the age of twenty. Although the cause of blood cancers remains unknown, recently developed treatments and steady advances in research bring us closer to a cure everyday.
These research advances have been achieved as a result of contributions made by companies, foundations and individuls. The Mississippi/Louisiana Chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has a goal of raising over $2.3 million this year. As a member of this team, I am helping meet this goal and need your help!
My goal is to raise $2600 by the new year. I am asking you to give $1 for every mile I run--a total of only $26!!! In doing so, you will be supporting a vital mission to find a cure for blood cancer!
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!
