Racing to Save Lives

On Saturday January 9, 2010 I will be running in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.

I have never run in a timed race, or even ran more than 7 miles at any given time. I am not going to break any records, but I would like to make a difference and hopefully raise awareness for this and other blood-related cancers that will affect an estimated 138,530 people in 2010.

I am completing this event in honor of Tanner Van Berg, a precious young boy with more energy than I can imagine. Tanner was diagnosed with with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) on December 28, 2007. He is only 4 years old. I work in the same office as Angi Van Berg, Tanner's mom and #1 supporter. What a fantastic family and support system they have...but it is my goal to raise awareness and funds to help eliminate this horrible disease from the Van Berg family vocabulary, and the vocabulary of many others.

I would love to have your support of $1 per mile ($13) or $2 per mile ($26)....or more if you feel so moved. There is no such thing as a donation that is too small or too large!
