Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

Thanks for stopping by my page. I have to admit, if it were not for encouragement and proper perspective from my wife, I would have quit already.

About a week after starting my fundraising campaign, I developed problems with my knee. I tried to run through the pain, but it only go worse. I took 11 days off with no running. As a result my training schedule is still behind where it needs to be. My knee is better, but still not great.

If it were not for doing this for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I would have thrown in the towel already. I was reminded the other day on an early morning run, that those suffering from blood cancers do not get to choose. They have to get treatments, they have to go to appointments, they have to sacrifice in order to continue to live. Needless to say with the proper perspective and attitude adjustment, I am staying the course because I believe the cause is worthy.

If you have donated, THANK YOU! If you have sent a word of encouragement, THANK YOU! If you have said a prayer, THANK YOU!

All of those are needed, not for me but for those who have a hope of a better day ahead thanks to the mission of LLS and Team in Training.

I am committed to finish the 13.1 miles on April 24th because I am blessed with the freedom of choice that blood cancers take from those affected by them.

Thanks for stopping by and continue to do so often up until the Derby City Festival.

Blessings to you,

Jamie

Every ten minutes, another child or adult is expected to die from leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. This statistic represents nearly 145 people each day, or six people every hour. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20. As a teacher and father I am fortunate to not have been directly impacted by any of the children I have been given the opportunity to work with in my life. However I do have close friends and relatives that have experienced battles with blood cancers.

In honor of those people in my life, I will be running the Derby Festival Mini Marathon in Louisville, KY in April 24 2009.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
