Racing to Save Lives ***Update - Training is still going great. Fundrasing however not as much. I have a few checks that need to be sent in. Hopefully I will get first thousand by mid march or I might have to withdraw...let's hope this doesn't happen. However, I will soon be invovled in a cool fundraising deal with a coupon card. The cards are 15 and my profit will be 10.50. That might help me get over the hump - happy days!! ***Update- I realize these should be on the bottom but hey, you don't want to scroll down and I don't want you to miss it ;) 2/11/09 - Training is going great! I just fostered a new dog through a local shelter and she is a great running partner. Lola might just be a better motivator than my Ipod ;) It was hard to keep up the miles during the ice storm so I did a lot more cardio in front of the TV - you guys should get FitTV, it's a-maz-ing! Anywho - I have a lot of checks coming in from around the country, thanks for your support and those figures will be updated on here in a few weeks! Miss you guys - happy running Hey peoples! Thanks for visiting my TNT site. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support for me, and for the cause of LLS. My focus for this season is the blessings I have to share. Not one person in my family is diagnosed or has been diagnosed with Luekemia or Lymphoma. In my immediate family we are all healthy, happy people. I am so glad that I am able to get up every day and choose to do whatever I want. Those of you that know me realize I am a bit of a free spirit, I go where I please. I am happy to share this experience with you as I choose to run for a cure. It's pretty cold out here in the bluegrass, especially in comparison to southern cali... so, as I am trekking through freezing temp during training I will hopefully remember that however tough it all is, it is nowhere near as tough as battling cancer. Please take a moment to consider the health and happiness of your family. I have had some pretty rouch patches in my life, but sitting in a doctor's office hearing that you have cancer might just be my worst nightmare. If you haven't scoped out the Team in Training site, here is the deal: all of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this half marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. You can be a big part of crossing our ultimate finish line - finding a CURE! TNT does all sorts of events, triathalons, marathons, 100 mile bike rides, etc. I want you to know that the Derby MiniMarathon - a half marathon, 13.1 miles is the highlight of our summer season. Therefore, all $2,000 that I raise will go directly to the Luekemia and Lymphoma society. You aren't paying my airfare, and you aren't paying for my entry fees. Now, if in the future I compete in another race only 75% of the money raised will go to LLS. I just wanted you to know that this time around every dollar given will be directly used for LLS, research and other things. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Remember, this is tax deductible, please take advantage of this opportunity to cushen your taxes next year ;) And one more thing. If you are considering options to get into shape, I can't say enough about the program that TNT offers. No matter if your inner athlete has been gone since high school, or never really showed up - TNT can get you across the finish line! And of course let me know and I will surely sponsor you ;) *If you would like to be on the snail mail list during this season just send your street address to amielouwho@yahoo.com. I will be sending out a hard copy letter and maybe a few other goodies as they come in mind. Thanks again! |
