Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

Helpless ... that is how I felt on December 28, 2009 when I was told that my 5 year old son, JC, had relapsed and was diagnosed once again with leukemia.

Just three Christmases ago we faced the same horrible news. It was December 2006 when he was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). JC went through 2 years of treatment. He was so liberated when he no longer had his catheter and no longer had to take nightly medicine. He could run, play and swim (in the lake) without any limitations just like every other 5 year old boy.

JC had been off treatment for only 5 months when the relapse occurred. He is once again having weekly blood work done, weekly chemo treatments, weekly spinal taps and nightly medicine. He is such a trooper and handles everything much better than Mommy and Daddy do sometimes.

I'm training to participate in two endurance events as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us involved with Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

This is the only way that I know how to help make a difference. I want to do all that I can to raise money to aid research and support families just like mine. My hope is that one day soon there will be a cure for this disease.

Last year I completed my first endurance event in San Francisco. Yes I went from the couch to finishing 26.2 miles!!! Something I didn't think I could do. Thank you to everyone who supported me not only financially but emotionally.

My first event this year will be the San Diego Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon (13.1 miles) in June and my 2nd event will be the San Francisco Nike Women's Marathon (26.2 miles) in October.

I will be dedicating my fundraising, training and events in honor of my son, JC, and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are my heroes - my inspiration.

Our team needs your support to cross the ultimate finish line

-Finding a Cure-

My wish is that you will support me

by donating $1 per mile for both of my events...

that is a total of

$39.30.

75% of every dollar I raise goes to

research, patient services and education.

Your donation is tax deductible.

No donation is too small and every cent is appreciated.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Read my journal updates at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jcdelamore

Sincerely,
